House Purist

The House Purist aka Arths joins from South London. He was introduced to music from a young age, with his mother being a music junkie with a love for 80’s and 90’s RnB/soul. As he entered his early teens, garage and grime took over the radio airwaves which allowed him to diversify his music taste further. Then came the ‘funky/soulful house era’ of the late noughties which brought all of the aforementioned genres together into what he describes at the time as ‘musical heaven’, crediting the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Crazy Cousins, Karizma, Black Coffee, Atjazz and DJ spen.

Arths has refined his taste with a collection spanning throughout numerous sub genres of house, as well as Disco, Rnb, Funk and Soul. His biggest influences musically are Glenn Underground and Larry Heard, who he claims are the godfathers of ‘refined’ House music. He has numerous DJing influences but his favourite is Marcellus Pittman, just for how well he balances song choice, mixing and crowd interaction. Arths is a regular DJ at Goods Way, Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes and Brixton Radio.
